Medicines Industry Partnership Programme
About the event
The session showcased how the MIPP service is delivered through a unique partnership between NHS ML, Integrated Care Boards, GP practices, an intermediary company, and the pharmaceutical industry—working together for the benefit of patients and the NHS. The webinar was designed for those seeking to improve outcomes, enhance prescribing quality in line with local formularies, and reduce costs.
Our expert speakers shared the purpose behind the MIPP service, its proven benefits, practical steps for implementation, key outcome measures, and lessons learned. Attendees left with valuable insights and tools to adopt this innovative service within their systems.
Why it’s important
The NHS spends £18.5 billion each year on prescribing, with costs rising by around 8% annually. As demand for practical support in patient care grows, NHS and Industry partnerships are playing a vital role in delivering sustainable solutions. The MIPP embodies this approach, creating effective collaborations in line with NHS and the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry and industry guidance.
Delivered with partners, the MIPP service provides high-quality medication reviews in key therapy areas, ensuring the most cost-effective treatments for patients while improving prescribing quality. Aligned with the UK Government’s Fit for the Future 10-Year Health Plan for England, the programme supports integrated care delivery, strengthens the healthcare workforce, and embraces digital-first approaches.
This webinar highlighted how MIPP offers practical solutions for those leading medicines optimisation in their organisations, while also presenting opportunities for colleagues across the pharmaceutical industry to contribute to better patient care.
